Y Princess Meeting

Daddy and Madeline hosted the February Y Princess Meeting.  Watching them together, prepare for this meeting was priceless.  They first made invitations for each Daddy/daughter.  The invitations were boxes of sweetheart tarts, with a feather attached and a poem.  They then spent the afternoon delivering the invitations to each Tribe Member's home.  In the pictures above, Madeline and Daddy prepare for their meeting by making heart-shaped sugar cookies.  They rolled the dough together, cut out the hearts, and cooked them.  The Matt Daddy adores his little girl, and his little girl thinks her daddy is the greatest.

If Only I Was the Queen

On our walk today, Madeline asked me if we could do something.  Because we were on a tight schedule to get home and get dinner going, I told her that we would not be able to do this thing today.  As she walked on, I heard her mumbling behind me, "If only I was the queen and she was my servant".  Whoa, how funny and cute.

I Also Pick My Nose

A simple cold is again plaguing the lungs of my sweet boy with asthma.  Cough medicine, albuterol, and pulmacort seem to be doing little.  After a coughing fit of more than 30 minutes, I brought him into our room to sleep propped up with us to see if he could stop coughing and get to sleep.  After another 30 minutes, I realized that he was not sucking his thumb, and thought I would give him permission to do so in hopes that it would help him sleep (the rule is that he can only suck the thumb in his room at night).  After a few minutes of sucking his thumb, my sweet Ry looked up at me groggily, and said, "Mommy, I also pick my nose".  Meaning that to get the full effect of the soothing thumb, he had to have thumb in mouth and pointer finger in nose.  Oh goodness did I belly laugh.  It was so funny and he was SO serious.  Of course I told him to go ahead.  Being a mom is such a joy.

Snow Day

Really. . .there's no better dog than Bobo.  He and Ry have such a special bond.  They like to play chase together and wrestle.  Bobo even nips at his bum-bum.  It's so precious to watch!

Is this really North Carolina?  Are not the winters supposed to be mild?  The day after Christmas we were hit with a crazy snow store that packed about 8 inches of snow.  It was perfect for sledding and snowman making.  The kids LOVE being out in the snow, and thankfully, so does Daddy.  Mommy enjoys watching.

Daddy scattered birdseed all over our deck.  For a week straight, we enjoyed watching the birds flock to their new found feeding place.  We even pulled out Daddy's out bird book, and attempting identifying the different birds.

It's craft time for the girls.

Kinex!

Mommy's sweet babies and husband surprise her with a special gift!  The best part was seeing how excited they were to give it to me and watch me open it.  I LOOOOOOVE my family.

No longer will we just play this game in the aisles of every Target we enter, because we now own it.  BopIt, here we come!!!

Oh my goodness, now Mommy and Maddie have matching boots, and you know we are going to wear them together.  Watch out because soon we'll also have matching earrings!

Christmas Day at the Wells' brought great joy and excitement as we celebrated Jesus' birthday.  As soon as Madeline and Ryan woke up, they ran into our room excited to see if Santa had come.  After going down to turn on the coffee pot and the tree and garland lights, we let them come down and see for themselves whether or not Santa had come.  Of course, they were beyond excited to see that he had come and that he and the reindeers had snacked on the cookies and carrots we had put out for them.  Once all the gifts were opened, we told them that they had one more gift from Mommy and Daddy that was in the basement.  We led them down, and their reactions were priceless when they laid eyes on the trampoline.  There were lots and lots of squeals and screams and jumps.

A few hours later, we had a wonderful lunch of ham, carrot souffle, rolls, stuffing, potato cheese soup, and sesame seed green beans.  For dessert we had angel food cake with strawberries and whipped cream.  And as another surprise we told Madeline and Ryan that we were taking them to the movies to see Tangled.  It was such fun.  We love to see them belly laugh at movies, and Tangled had many moments that provoked those precious laughs.  That night we took Bobo for a walk and enjoyed hanging out together and talking about Jesus and how wonderful it is to celebrate his birthday.  It was a very, very special day.  We are so grateful for our sweet family.  Even little Ry said, "I love our family", over and over again.  Hearing that, of course, makes our hearts do flip flops.  Too precious.  Thank you, Jesus for these special days.
