Field Day with Dayspring

Whoever said homeschoolers miss out on field day???  We had a fabulous time on Friday enjoying hours of field day events in ninety degree weather.  Are you wondering how the children survived?  The planners were brilliant. . .1st station, followed by popsicle break under the shelter; 2nd station, followed by popsicle breaker under the shelter; 3rd station, followed by popsicle break under the shelter, 4th station followed by popsicle break under the shelter.  The children had enough sugar and water pulsing through their bodies, that they could have made it another couple hours.

In the picture above, Madeline and Jessica join legs for the three-legged race.
Ryan pairs up with Noah for some 3-legged fun.  Noah was very focused, and Ry literally got pulled along a couple times, but he was a great sport!
My sweet Madeline.  I love those pig-tails, baby girl, and your beautiful smile.
Jessica, Madeline and Ry pose for a picture before their next event!
 Don't drop that egg girlfriend!
Madeline and Jessica attempt the wheel barrow race.  Not too successful, but they had a great time trying.  That's a lot of weight on their little arms!
Sac race.  And guess who won out of all the people on her team. . .our little Madely!
It's the balloon walk.  Get that balloon, Ry!
Go Madeline, you can do it!
If you ask Madeline what her favorite event of the day was, this was it.  The famous cupcake walk.
The long jump.  Check out that girl's legs.  She can jump.

Okay, that's some serious height.
Fun at station 4. . .the water station.  Each team stood at a line with a bucket on either end.  The bucket at the front of the line was full and the one at the back was empty.  Cup by cup, the team members passed water, until the bucket at the end was filled.
And the most fun part of this game was when it was over. . .you could pour your cup of water over your head!
This girl LOVED getting wet.
Ry-Ry leads his team in the sponge race.  Go, Ry-Ry, go!

Ryan's Playing Soccer

Ryan is playing 4 year old soccer in Morrisville this year, and it has been a joy to watch him.  He is very talented at focusing on the ball and turning it around for his team.
Go, Ryan, Go!
Yippee, the game is over and the Emus won!!!

Madeline and Ben entertain themselves on the sidelines, as these soccer games go for a WHOLE hour!
Our BoBo. . .you might think he's ugly, but we LOVE him!

My Madely

One day last week, we were having a very harried bed time hour. . .Daddy was traveling. . .kids were wild. . .Mommy was tired.

Before putting the toothbrush into her mouth, Madeline looks to me and says, "Mommy are we getting on your FIRST nerve".  I laughed and laughed and laughed. . .

Camping Trip

This Friday night we finally did it.  After years and years of talking about it, we camped with the Windleys and other friends.  Though it was A LOT of work for one night, and though we ALL retired to our tents at 9:30 when our children went to bed, it was totally worth it!

Madeline enjoys some playtime with sweet Hannah, in Hannah's unique, contained contraption. :)
Ryan and Jackson.  Really, I have no idea why both these boys have their heads tilted back like this, but it's cute!
Zach, Jackson, Jacob and Ry look like they are investigating something.  Stacy and Courtney graciously allowed the boys to play in their tents, which had air matresses.  The boys loved it and were jumping all around.  When we settled into our tent that night, which did not have air mattresses, Ry said, "I wish our tent was a bounce house, like Jackson's and Nate's".
Pastor Mike teaching the kids how to fish.  I don't think they caught anything, but they had fun!
Man, Mr. Jamie is SO fun.  No other daddy has a wing span like him!

Needs and Wants

On Tuesday, we did a social studies lesson on needs versus wants.  As we made a list of wants, Madeline had a hard time coming up with things.  Later that day, we took a trip to Target.  After traipsing through the toys, passing the girls' clothing and shoe departments, Madeline looked up at me and said, "Mooommmy, I just have sooooooo many wants.  I wish they were all just needs".  I immediately burst out laughing, and told her that it is a struggle for all of us.  Target just seems to pull out the greed monster in all of us!!! :0)

Game Face

Matt has taught Ryan "game face".  When we tell Ry, "game face, Ry", this is the face he makes.  It cracks me up.  I'm so impressed that Matt thought to teach him this!

Okay, another funny thing Daddy has taught Ry.  You start with a mad or sad face.  You then vertically draw your hand down your face, and as your hand passes over your face, your expression changes from  sad/mad to happy.  See below for the result of the vertical hand pass.
So stinking funny!!!

Celebrating Jesus

What, your Easter basket was hidden in the oven???  What crazy parent would have done that?

You may not be able to tell here, but Ryan really does like candy.  The boy was so funny searching for his basket.  He does not quite get the "hot/cold" thing yet.
After church, we headed to the cul de sac for our annual pot luck and egg hunt.  Here's Ry, just chillin'.

Our Madely swinging high in the air.  Check out the crazy hair.

The cul de sac girls.  Madeline, Allie, and Kailyn.  They band together since they are completely outnumbered!!!

Ry's on the hunt.

Madeline takes her time searching for eggs.  I love her sweet, tender, distracted spirit.
